First 1941 bale ginned at Snyder on Hull farm
The first 1941 cotton bale weighed 418 pounds at Paymaster Gin on Lamesa Highway brought in by E. E. Shifflett from Hull farm east of Snyder. About 20 acres were picked to yield 1,860 pounds of bolls planted in April in a Von Roeder Western Storm Proof pattern. Shifflett aims for a $100 Snyder Chamber premium for county’s first bale.
