Scurry County halted harvest with the county's first bale pulled and ginned by L. T. Nail on land owned by Mr and Mrs Jack Bowden. The 30 acre irrigated field two miles south of town produced the bale processed by D W Merritt at Planters Gin. Nail notes irrigation twice before and after planting with water drawn from Deep Creek. Lopez led a crew of 15 boll pullers paid three dollars per hundred pounds.
