Voyager 2 speeds toward Jupiter and Saturn as Jet Propulsion Laboratory engineers test its instruments after a shaky start. They report the boom for cameras and tests extended correctly within one degree, and the craft sails smoothly toward the outer planets.

State District Court Judge Tom Cave denied Cullen Davis bond in Amarillo on the life trial tied to the slaying of his 12-year old stepdaughter. The ruling was issued in Fort Worth with word sent to Amarillo where testimony had begun.
