Bolivia Claims Oruro Retaken

The government radio said troops loyal to President Juan Jose Torres retook Oruro from rebels, who denied the claim and said they control six of Bolivia's nine provinces. The uprising began Thursday as government officials and rebels clash over control of strategic routes and tin mining income.

Snyder records 86 Friday high and 65 low with 68 at 7 am Saturday. Northwest Texas expects clear to partly cloudy conditions with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s and lows 50s to 70s. North Central to Northeast Texas stay warm with highs near 90 to 99 and lows 70s. Southwest Texas remains partly cloudy and warm with 90s, cooler 80s in far west. South Central and Southeast Texas mostly warm with possible daytime showers and lows in the 70s.

Gov. Pres ton Smith flies to Washington seeking support and discusses the Nixon wage price freeze. A Justice Department suit aims to force Texas compliance while Smith maintains he will enact automatic raises for 62,000 state workers and teachers. Rodeo Goes Into Last Performance

The 35th Annual Scurry County Rodeo heads to its final performance after a Friday invitational showing. Scores posted in bronc riding include Dan Carr 74 and six others within reach. bareback had no scores. Stockhorse and calf roping times led by Joe Beaver and Donny Criswell won the wild mare race.

Court Reinstates by On Ballot

The Supreme Court, amid pressure from President Thieu and the United States, cleared the way for a two person presidential race by reinstating Vice President A. J. Snyder High Band Rehearsals Begin For 1971 Season

Rehearsals for all members of the Snyder High School Black and Gold Band start Monday with a noninstrument session at 7 p.m. and a second session with instruments set for 7 p.m. Tuesday. Director Don Firing says the rest of the week's schedule will be announced at the first rehearsal. All members must attend as they prepare for the first football game of the 1971 season.

Tropical Storm Chloe weakened after a clash with a cold low pressure trough but forecasters expected reintensification tonight on a course toward Jamaica. The loss of a vital satellite hindered tracking, while an Air Force Hurricane Hunter observed disorganization and a slight weakening.

Nixon to Meet With Hirohito in Alaska Visit

Local Schools Set Fall Registration Across Scurry County

Scurry County schools including Western Texas College prepare for classes starting Monday Aug. 30. Snyder Public Schools schedules kindergarten to high school registration with alphabetical slots for juniors and seniors. Western Texas College holds Thursday and Friday student registration and an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday class start. Central Elementary hosts kindergarten registration. Helmleigh and Fluvanna host first classes after in service. Ira Schools begun term last week. Faculty meetings and in service run through Monday with a workshop Tuesday featuring Dr. John Koueche.
