The Railroad Commission set September oil allowable at 3 173 736 barrels daily an increase of 228 302. The 12 day pattern followed a similar rise after August. L. D. Green Service Is Set Thursday
Funeral services for Lawrence D. Green 81 will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Snyder with Rev. Lawrence Hays officiating. Green died at 5 p.m. yesterday at his home 2009 Thirtieth Street. He had lived in Scurry County 58 years and was born January 17, 1877 in Cumbie Hopkins County. He married Hettie Sampson February 17, 1900 and lived in the Dunn community before settling here. Survivors include his widow two daughters Jettie Lee Shull and Mrs. Bob Davenport both of San Angelo a son Carl D. Green of Vista California four sisters and two brothers and two grandchildren. Burial will be in Snyder Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home in charge.

New York AP report states Peter Crosby and William McCarthy will plead in federal court to charges they used the mails to defraud the public of about 2.3 million dollars in stock transactions. Crosby, a cafe society figure and former husband of Denise Darcel, defends his role at Texas Adams Oil Co, saying he knew of no fraud during his brief tenure. McCarthy, brother of Texas oilman Glenn McCarthy, is linked to the Texas Adams investigation led by former U.S. attorney Paul Williams. Crosby says he spent just over five weeks with Texas Adams in 1955 and cannot recall any material mailed fraud.

Season Tickets Moving Rapidly for Tiger Football
About 400 additional Tiger season tickets were sold this morning, raising total sales to 1,500 with 1,100 remaining. Tickets went on sale at the Chamber of Commerce Office, and most unsold seats are along the 20 to 35 yard lines at both ends of the West Stands. Season ticket holders from last year had already consumed 1,100 tickets before today’s public sale. Tickets will be available at the Chamber of Commerce office each weekday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Friday.
