The removal of federal price controls on heavy oil could raise costs by up to a quarter cent per gallon for consumers, energy officials say, while boosting supply. President Carter ordered the action Friday before leaving on a seven day vacation on the Mississippi River.

Channel 17 has appeared on Channel 4a when Channel 4 had transmission problems, and the move aims to acquaint locals with Channel 17. HBO and the Atlanta station involve additional charges for SCAT.
New high school students in the Snyder district register tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the counselors’ offices with health records and transcripts if possible. An orientation for all 9th graders and other new high school students is Wednesday at 10 a.m. at SHS. Junior high registration for 7th and 8th graders new to Snyder is Monday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the junior high office.
Dr. Maria Teresa Granados, a Peruvian native with training in Washington DC and New York, will begin private pediatric practice Aug. 22 in Cogdell Center south of the Doctors' Clinic. She plans general pediatrics up to 14 and general endocrinology up to 18, saying early diagnosis prevents handicaps and that Snyder residents are welcoming.
In Snyder a possible artists colony is forming around Dr. Robert Taylor a veterinarian who freelances in bronze plus Terry Gilbreth and Dubb Tubb. The Hidetown Bronze foundry behind Taylor's clinic uses investment shell casting to produce bronzes often valued at over a thousand dollars. Taylor has spent about 120 hours on one wax model and notes bronzes are typically made in runs of 15.
