The forecast shows Snyder highs near 93 today with a 68 degree low at 7 am. West Texas expects scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight into Wednesday with mid 80s to upper 90s in Big Bend, while South Texas stays warm and humid with possible showers. North Texas remains hot and clear to partly cloudy with highs 92 to 101 and 71 to 76 lows.

The National Disaster Coordinating Center reports 811 dead 249 missing and 251 injured after two major quakes struck Mindanao during a single day. Unofficial counts raise death toll to 917 with 500+ injured and 400 missing as 1,290 families are homeless and 315 structures destroyed.
The Scurry County and Borden County officials agreed to partition the Fluvanna School District along the county line. Scurry gains 89.7 percent of indebtedness and assets. Borden 10.3 percent. Students transfer to the district where they reside. Snyder ISD receives Fluvanna properties in Scurry County. Borden County takes its district properties.
A J Jay Williams, 68, died unexpectedly at his home on Peyton Avenue. Services set for 2 p m Wednesday at Bell Seale Chapel with Rev George White, burial in Snyder Cemetery. He was a retired Texas Highways employee, World War II veteran, married Aug 26 1948 to Jewell McKeon. Survived by stepson Ollie Pike and sister Leona Snider.
Scientists in Guadeloupe struggle to predict further activity after a minor eruption of La Soufriere. Heavy ash hindered overflight, villages evacuated, about 72 000 residents moved, 50 refused evacuation, and officials warned tremors could continue with no imminent collapse of nearby buildings.
Colleen Gardner says she is bewildered by reports that federal prosecutors will not press criminal charges against Congressman John Young over allegations of sexual coercion for continued employment with premium pay. The case remains under consideration, with officials noting no fraud found in payroll disbursement. Gardner, 28, testified to years of humiliation and claimed premium pay and workplace coercion, while Young calls the allegations pyppycock and denies wrongdoing.
