In Lubbock Ray Boyd a former Exxon Southwest Conference sportscaster and TV sports figure is indicted for sexual abuse of a minor. A 16 year old who aided Boyd since age eight says the acts spanned eight years and began during yard work. A dispute over a car ownership prompted the youth to report the incidents.
Snyder and Borden County competitors won at the American Junior Rodeo Association finals closing Saturday. Julie Ridenour of Fluvanna was named National Finals Queen, Sabrina Pike of Albuquerque earned Miss AJRA, and local riders from Snyder and Gail earned top finishes in steer riding bull riding optional racing and all around. Summer band practice set for 1 to 3 p.m. at Snyder Junior High.
Snyder shoppers Tommy Hester, Barbara Hawkins, and Libby Grimmett were drawn as winners in the Back-to-School contest. Each won merchant money for local stores and may pick up their prizes at the Snyder Daily News on Monday.

Jordan stressed the decisions were his and approved by Carter.
W A C I L McNair reports Koerner's paintings and magazine cover designs by W H D Koerner, including works for Zane Grey and Emerson Hough, on display at the Diamond M Museum. State representative Mike Ezzell will serve temporarily as director of the Christian Student Center on the Western Texas College campus. The U S Department of Agriculture announced a proposal to curb junk foods in schools but has not issued local guidance yet. If regulations are enacted, noncompliant schools could lose USDA commodities for school meals, including Snyder Schools if applicable.
