Scurry County Produces Early 1963 Cotton Bale

Ira Wayland Huddleston grew the county’s first bale of 1963 at Layfield Gin, weighing 560 pounds from 2190 pounds of bales. The bale, grown on the Haskell Beard farm south of Snyder, was processed about noon and is one of the largest on record.

Bruns Rites Set Tuesday

Funeral services for Otto Bruns 79 of Hermleigh will be at 3 p m Tuesday at Trinity Methodist Church with Rev Allen Adams officiating. Burial in Roscoe Cemetery under Bolger Funeral Home direction. Surviving are daughter Mrs A J Kuss three sons Lester Erwin Edgar one sister and 11 grandchildren.

Perez Jimenez Extradition Set for Venezuela Trial

United States agrees to extradite former Venezuelan president Perez Jimenez to face charges of embezzlement exceeding 13 million dollars and four political murders. Secretary of State Dean Rusk authorized the action, marking a historic move as the first case of a former chief of state being extradited. Cafeteria Burglarized Near Square. Police Investigate

Snyder police investigate a break in at Sal lie's Cafeteria just north of the square on Avenue. The burglary occurred Sunday night or early Monday morning. About $29 in cash from a cigarette machine and some cigarettes and candy taken.

Rusk Urges Senate to Ratify Limited Test Ban Treaty
