Klansmen Move From Selma Toward Site Of 1961 Slaying
About 50 robed Ku Klux Klan members began a white power march from Selma toward Montgomery along the 50 mile route of the 1965 voting rights march led by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The group dwindled to about 30 after a rest stop outside Selma as others rode a bus to the night rally site 15 miles away, near the spot where a civil rights worker was slain 14 years ago by gunfire from a carload of Klansmen.

Jimmy Hess Joins Faculty At WTC
Jimmy Hess, former Snyder resident, returns to Snyder to join Western Texas College as an Automotive Mechanics instructor. He holds an associate degree in automotive technology and has taught at WTC, worked for IR Compression Services, and been employed by Wilson Motors. He will teach evening courses and morning high school outreach. Registration for fall is Sept. 4-5, with evening registration 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 4. Classes begin Sept. 6.
