Firefighters face continued high winds and heat as fires burn out of control across four dry Western states. Gordon Stevens, fire boss on the Mortar Creek blaze in Idaho, says only nature can finally curb the fires.
The FAA announced a four year program to spend 100 million dollars to upgrade 86 satellite airports near 56 metropolitan hubs. Upgrades include electronic landing aids automated weather reporting equipment improved runways taxiways and aircraft parking aprons to lure small planes away from busy hubs.
