Three Deserted Hijackers Release Hostages in Lisbon
In Lisbon three deserters from the Spanish Foreign Legion freed all but the three-member crew aboard an Iberia DC-9 that had hijacked the plane with 12 hostages. They planned a Geneva landing where Swiss authorities pledged arrests. The hijackers, two French men and a Chilean, would be treated as air pirates and tried in Swiss courts.

Murder Case Goes Before Grand Jury in Scurry County
A murder case is set for presentation to a Scurry County grand jury as it convenes. David Lee James, 22, faces a murder indictment for the July 4 shooting of Donna Lee Byrom, 23, who died a week after an aggravated assault charge previously filed.
