Funeral for Carrol Ray Helms 52 of Snyder was set for 4 p.m. at Bell Seale Chapel with Sam Kitching of East Side Church of Christ officiating. Burial in Snyder Cemetery. He died in a two car crash one mile east of Lenorah in Martin County at 3 p.m. Wednesday. His wife Wilma and two Hobbs men were seriously injured. He was born June 27 1927 in Cisco and was a World War II veteran. Survived by his parents Dr and Mrs C E Helms of Snyder.

Snyder TEC Office to Close August 15
John Bruce of the Texas Employment Commission notified Etta Wilson of Snyder that the local TEC office will close due to economy measures from Washington. Wilson will operate the office until August 15 when it closes permanently, offering job placement help until then and noting 48 placements last month, half in non agriculture work. State Rep. Renal Rosson circulated a 140 signature petition for reopening, with telegrams planned to influence reopening. Wilson marked five years with the Snyder TEC office as of March 13.
