Jake Thompson, 45, nephew of W. R. Pate of Snyder, died in a Hilton Hotel fire in Plainview early today. Thirty guests on the 7th and 8th floors evacuated. Thompson was overcome by smoke in his room. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Scott and Mrs. Opal McMullan, and a brother, Maurice Thompson. Funeral planned in Blackwell where he was raised.
