Ford urges pledges kept at European security meeting

President Ford warned at the 35 nation European Security Conference that the charter must be more than empty words. He signed the final document after leaders of West and East Germany, urging meaningful action and saying the world is tired of unfulfilled pledges. Romanian leader Ceausescu called for dismantling foreign bases and withdrawal of troops, and urged removal of opposing blocs from Europe. Ford pressed for arms reductions in central Europe and a new Soviet accord to curb offensive nuclear weapons.

Ft. Polk Exchange Robbery Shocks Base in Leesville

Two armed robbers held up the Ft. Polk post exchange early today and fled with more than 100000 dollars in cash and checks. A wide search was launched but no escape route or direction was identified. The base is open with no guard gates or perimeter fences attracting traffic through the area.

Judge Rejects Carrillo Appeal In Texas House Impeachment

U S District Judge Jack Roberts dismissed with prejudice Carrillo's bid to block Monday's Texas House convening over impeachment articles. Senate Rejects 31.2B Military Bill in 48–42 Vote
