Funeral Set For Mishap Victim Robert Crites 53
Funeral services were held for Robert Bruce Crites 53 of 2602 Thirty-fifth Street who died in a highway crash Friday afternoon on Texas Highway 350 twenty miles southwest of Snyder. The Service Pipe Line Co. employee was pronounced dead at the scene. Burial followed at Bryan. Bell Seale Funeral Home oversaw arrangements. The crash involved a Neels Transfer Co. van driven by Jack Smith from Big Spring who was uninjured. Crites pending injuries included arm and leg issues for Webb AFB passenger Sgt Richard Riegel. Crites native to Iola Texas and survived by wife mother daughter and several stepchildren.

Fire damages Tower Life Building in San Antonio
Fire broke out before dawn on the 22nd floor of the 30 story Tower Life Building. Fire chief Milton Roger said the blaze was contained but extensive damage affected seven floors from the 20th to the 27th. Ernst and Ernst on the 22nd floor reported most files saved in metal cabinets. Police sergeant Frank Munoz alerted at 4:57 a.m.
