Taft with 809 electoral votes defeats Persimons and Bryan to become next president. The Republican ticket of Taft and Sherman is poised to command a large majority in Congress, continuing post Civil War party rule in Washington.

Early returns show only 23 counties fully counted as ballots come in. Analysts estimate the measure defeated by about 20,000 votes, with Roberts County possibly approving the law by a small margin.

South Dakota Republicans Sweep to Victory in State Race

Robert Vessey is named next governor as the Republican slate wins the state. Eben W. Martin and Chas Burke to represent the party in the Senate race. The GOP majority is reported around 12 000 to 15 000 for Vessey with the national committee deeming South Dakota doubtful earlier. The full Republican ticket is elected.

Roberts County Elects Entire Republican Ticket in County Results

In Roberts County the Republican ticket achieved an overwhelming victory with every member elected. Approximate totals show STATE SENATOR W V Bobbiny 1680 over J A Robertson 693. Legislative ticket favored Republicans Iver Johnson 1625 and Lind Negaard Halvor Olen Kinney with similar margins. County Auditor J A Ray 4 Hoffman Democrat leads noted.

Johnson Re-Elected Governor of Minnesota by Plurality

John Johnson is re elected governor of Minnesota by a plurality that may exceed 25 000. Taft carries Minnesota for president by 60 000 to 75 000. Johnson's decisive victory over Jacobson was unexpected and a greater achievement than his two former successes.
