Bitter intra party clash over Republican primaries in 1908
An April 21 1908 meeting in Wisink McNulty’s office tasked with selecting Republican nominees for June 5 primaries reveals an effort by machine bosses to eliminate rivals. McNulty Porter Mustain Allinariel Aier sill Olat Noxitard and others pressed a plan to exclude contenders while candidates urged a fair people driven vote. The session featured heated rhetoric and protests from several candidates who demanded voting by the people under the primary law.
