June weddings fill town pages as G A Williams weds Augusta Marringen at a north-side cottage near Warl Edround. Archie Williams, a longtime Correctionsville resident, progresses with E C Laub & Co. Velma Polley, a Correctionsville graduate, marries Forest H Anderson, who will run the Thornton hotel. Both couples begin new life phases with family and friends in attendance.
Max Carnaveaux staged mind reading and hypnotism shows last week with Prof. Morris Mesare Woodruff and Wright. He performed a blindfold drive with a secret post office key, retrieved Mr Yockeys mail, and delivered it at a store desk. He demonstrated mesmeric control and tested memory by writing a random word chosen by an audience member and had a blindfolded professor duplicate handwriting. Carnaveaux led a test where a name was written by Mr Morris and reproduced by the blindfolded professor from contact with Richard Korneia-
At the Methodist service Miss Elva Smith stood by the cross symbolizing Peace while Robert Shantz represented War beside the guns. banners and green decorations framed the program. Congregational night program featured child led recitations, foreign nation costumes, and bird calls. Collections supported the educational and missionary funds as Baptist events approach next Sunday.
Delegates to the annual Epworth league convention in Ida Grove district began arriving Tuesday noon with trains filling the capacity as more joined through Wednesday. Tuesday evening services at the Methodist church featured Revs Carr and Lothian and Editor S. M. Stouffer, with Miss Metcalf performing a solo. Afterward a reception with cream and cake followed a social hour that fostered new friendships and preparations for Wednesday’s program. A report of Wednesday’s proceedings and delegate list will appear next week.
The Free Methodists held their third quarterly gathering Fri through Sun with Elder M. D. Myers of Early attending and preaching at four services. Rev. A. L. Mossman of Kingsley also preached, and Myers, now renting in Early, contemplates moving to the area and negotiating for a north side lot for a more central site and better railroad access.
Miss Louisa Wallace Miss Nina Warner and Mrs C E Boardman residents of Correctionville left for gooseberries Monday. Gooseberry samples were exhibited at this office but disappeared after a short move in extremely warm weather. only a few berries were taken and the sample did not travel far.

Seven box cars hold the new Cor rectionville mill on the Illinois Central Central side track The entire transfer costs about $2 000 with 492 freight This rebuilding will be overseen by Masters and Baldwin using day labor and eight to ten local men The mill aims to start by September first at a 10 hour shift with capacity of 125 barrels per day The building measures 30 by 54 feet and 38 feet high above a 7 5 foot basement An engine room of 38 by 30 feet will house a 128 H P Corliss engine The mill is north of the creamery and the Masters family has moved into the nearby residence The News welcomes the new firm and wishes prosperity and sociable town life
A surprise fifteenth birthday party was held at Miss Elva Smith’s home on the 14th, organized by a group of her girl friends. After music ice cream and cake were enjoyed by her parents and guests who then left cheerful and pleased with the celebration. Attending were Dottie Rhodes Fred Maonnel Edna Edmunds Rollie Wealey Mary Tackwith Ed Petty Laura Butler George Thom Mabe Blair Shantz Nona Homor.
The Mothers' Club announces a June 29 meeting with a song and prayer, roll call, and a paper titled Should a Child be Allowed to Reason or Argue How far. Mrs Oscar Castle and Mesdames Stribley and Randolph are listed, along with four Smithland girls setting type in the Bun office.
