The Hull Index endorses Mr. Klay despite his non candidacy for re election. It states his record is approved and he will support Hull's chosen candidate, asserting a Hull based successor is certain in Sioux County.
The Sioux County Medical Society hosted a banquet Friday evening at the moving picture theatre with over forty guests present. Toastmaster was Dr. A De Bey and Dr. McAlister spoke for The Hawarden Bunch.

Sioux County obituary notes the death of Alanson Sherman aged eighty five on Friday morning January 16. Born in 1829 in New York, he married Charlotte Allen in 1851 and served in the Civil War. He settled in Sioux County in 1859, helped establish Maurice, built its first house, and served as its first postmaster. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. David Patten of Pipestone and Mrs. Joseph Walker of Canaria. Funeral was held Tuesday at the Maurice American Reformed Church.
Sioux County farmers face higher land values yet similar yields per acre. The solution urged is planting alfalfa and a contest offers prizes to encourage adoption. First prize to fifth prize winners are listed among the rewards.
Contest requires entrants to register name and describe land for sowing alfalfa by July 1 1914. Must be bank customers with at least five acres. Seed in 1914. Prizes for top five stands in 1915 April June judging by Iowa State College if possible. Entry promises no loss even without cash prize.
