Letter From W E Kent Tacos Wasi April 23 1508
W E Kent reports late arrival in Seattle due to track obstructions from stones and a toppled rock. Workers removed the obstruction after a half hour, sending the rock careening down a slope. They visited Seattle shipyards with many Alaskan boats under construction bound for the Yukon in summer. Prices in Tacoma and Seattle favored shoppers, with Seattle outfits criticized for substandard goods. The crowd at the outfitting dock proved unruly and police could not control them. They also mention Klondike dyers and a harsh alpine journey, noting only the strongest can endure the ascent. Kent plans to write again from the next stop.
