Move into new home and spring town news in 1898
Stant Hoover and family began moving from the farm to a house across the river on Monday. A marriage occurred at the Lutheran church in Hudson on March 9, 1898, between Kapute Fodnes and Miss Mary Thorkelson, officiated by Rev. L. J. Houge, witnessed by many friends. Nellie and Addie Hazlett planned to start a dressmaking shop in Hawarden, rooms secured at W. H. Palmer's, with sewing and dressmaking services soon. Frank Hazlett’s family mourned the death of their baby boy, about 18 months old, buried near Inwood with services by Ry. Evans. Proposals to incorporate Fairview and power a new electric plant are discussed, with O. A. Redolph and C. A. South exploring eastern partnerships and a projected 8,000 construction cost for a 15 horsepower dynamo, electric lights, and power in Sioux Valley towns. A potential three-to-four mile north Fairview plant location could extend service to Fairview Hudson and county seat. An attractive job opening at the store seeks men with common sense and some money for cheap trousers and full suits. Notices include legal administrator appointment for Felerd Kerniac estate, March 19, 188, with claims to be presented to the District Court of Sioux County.
