Rockland Group Sold to New York Syndicate on Red Mountain

Frank Watson and Judge Spinks transfer the Rockland Group to J. P. Graves of New York, who bonds the property for a syndicate with substantial capital. The sulphide ore body averages about 1750 per ton in gold and copper, over 100 feet depth and width, with plans for near mine plant and wagon road to Silverton. The deal signals a new era for Slocan mining and major employment for Silverton.

Wakefield mine to ship concentrates via drying wagon road

Preparations underway as snowless conditions allow ore from Wakefield to be hauled to town. Daily mill throughput runs about 701 tons with five carloads ready to ship, and plans add jigs to boost capacity. Pete Sinnott will start hauling to the wharf. Wakefield aims for about one carload daily, likely the season’s largest Lake shipper.

Strike On The Storm Promises Rich Ore Discovery

At Galena Farm Flats near town a surface find of carbonate and galena ore appears to mark a potentially rich strike. The outcrop lies about 75 feet east of the current shaft, at grass roots, and resembles the Bosun sighting in initial promise. The evidence suggests the vein apex resurfaces, indicating a strong mining opportunity.

Hewett Mine Uses Pack Trains As Snow Recedes

Packing from the Hewett mine continues as snow melts with raw ore suspended. Pack trains haul ore to the wharf while fine ore is found at the mine and samples show up to 800 ounces of silver per ton. The main tunnel face reveals 18 inches of high grade shipping ore. The Hewett remains the only dry ore mine, carrying little lead but abundant native and ruby silver.

Slocan Lake Ore Shipments Reach 1900 Totals

Ore shipments from Slocan Lake points up to the present week total 160 tons at Slocan City Arlington and from Silverton Emily Edith with smaller amounts from New Denver Enterprise Landing and other points. Prices for copper and lead are noted, with lead at 4.45 and copper at 16.50 among market reports from Lake copper and Bar Silver. A mention of the Drill being sharpened for Slocan City adds a local note of interest.
