An Enterprise mine miner named Kennedy was killed on Friday night while picking a missed shot when an explosion occurred. The company withholds details on cause or whether negligence, accident, or foul play led to the death, prompting calls for government scrutiny in British Columbia.
Jas A McKinnon returned from Nelson hopeful about resolving Noonday-Curley affairs. Hartney mine adds bunkhouse for 50 men bath houses and modern improvements. Storm claim near town delayed by surface water from melting snow. Ore runs steady despite shaft bottom slowdown. A new Old Maid claim near town targets a vein over 12 feet wide with a 90 foot tunnel.
W. F. Williams of Rossland head mining expert for the Miller Graves syndicate arrives with Judge Spinks and Frank Wawon. They conduct thorogen sampling of the Rockland group, taking hundreds of pounds of ore for study. The visitors leave pleased with their visit though conclusions remain undisclosed.
The Wakefield concentrator was turned over to the Wakefield company by White, Rogers & Co of San Francisco. The mill, built and run by the builders to demonstrate full compliance, was accepted after a lengthy period of testing. Mr J R Mc Rae, under whose management the mill was erected, departed for San Francisco, with Mr Kellen now in charge as an experienced millman.

In Victoria, a football club meeting reorganized with officers elected and plans to form a Slocan Football League with Slocan City New Denver Three Forks and London clubs.
Snow and mud slides sweep through Slovan and Lar deau districts killing four miners in ten days. At Sandon six houses in Lovatt addition buried. McLeod found dead under debris. Rescue teams saved Mrs. Fogg, her daughter, and Rev. Ferguson. Other slides damaged Wakefield flame and Rockland mine, with roads blocked and crews at work to clear routes.
A St Patrick s Day concert in Silverton drew a large turnout and a substantial surplus for the Roman Catholic church fund. The event featured Miss Duncan Webb and inlay, Mr Smitheringale and Mr Harris with local performers delivering hearty encores and praised performances. Rev Father Cote thanked attendees and pledged to dedicate the new church to St Patrick. A piano for public use was proposed to replace the small organ used for all accompaniments.
A miners convention will meet in Nelson on Thursday. delegates from all Kootenays Miners and Trade Unions will decide labor’s stance in the upcoming election. Work resumes on the Corncracker claim near the Bosun with plans to develop it into a mine this season. The Emily Edith mine is undergoing repairs in preparation for startup of the large property.
The town football season opened with Drill Pounders versus Counter Hoppers in a 50 minute match. One man short for the Pounders and both sides without wind yet the game stayed close. The vote of confidence in new material suggests Bilverton will field a strong eleven this season.
