Ore shipments from Slocan Lake for 1900 reached 4930 tons and total year shipments reached 8078 tons. Metal Market Leads With London and New York Prices

The English price for lead is £12 8s 9d and silver 271gd. Copper is £69 24. New York on June 20 shows bar silver at 595¢ and lake copper at $17.00. The firm that fixes selling prices for miners and smelters quotes lead at $4.373 at close.

Licence Commissioners Renew Most Licences In New Denver

At their regular meeting in New Denver last Saturday the Licence Commissioners renewed all licences applied for with three exceptions and granted a new licence to the hotel at the mouth of Twelve Mile creek. The three refusals were for Henry Steye Pat Griffin and Sething Henderson due to unpaid fees. The board hesitated over the City of Slovan application but chose to grant licences pending settlement between the city and Government.

Miner Martin Clair Dies in 25 Foot Shaft Accident

The coroner's inquest at the Forks found Martin Clair died of gas suffocation from his own carelessness while working in a 25 foot shaft on Little Skoukum hill near Dawson. The jury urged ventilation before the mine is used again and Clair's body is being brought to Danaon. Clair was a well known miner connected with his brother Thomas Clair in Silverton's Thistle Hotel management.
