Conspirators on Trial in Paris Senate Case

Paris September 18 The Senate held a high court of justice to try twenty two politicians including De Montcourt De Roulede Marcel Habert the Band Baron Devaux and Jules Guerin on conspiracy against the government. The Procurator General read the long indictment from 2:25 until 8:40 PM before the Senate entered secret session. The court will likely reassemble this afternoon to decide preliminaries and adjourn for a month.

Ask Justice for Schley protest to command

A group led by Governor Lowndes Senator Wellington Major Maister of Baltimore and General Felix Agnus submitted a formal protest to the President against assigning Rear Admiral Schley to command the South Atlantic station arguing it did not reflect the dignity or service he rendered in the Spanish American War. The protest was voluntary and presented without Schley’s knowledge and the President listened but gave no indication of his decision.
