Silver Convention in Carson Advances Silver Platform and Ticket
Nevada Silver party holds a two day Carson convention with delegates choosing Thomas Wren for temporary chair and John Kelley as secretary. The platform calls for free silver at 16 to 1, government ownership of telegraphs and railroads, abolition of national banks, and arbitration for labor, with Francis G. Newlands named for Congress and Eureka leaders dominating the ticket. The event contrasts with Reno GOP and reports a unified, harmonious gathering.
