Release of Sailors Held for Murder

Charleston South Carolina October 26 The Norwegian government secured the release today of two sailors held for murder after a wrecked Norwegian bark was driven ashore off the Florida coast. The crew of three raft survivors drew lots. two were rescued and the other died at sea. The men will be sent home.

Troops Deployed to Mexican Border After Clash

The Mexican Ambassador reportes two Americans killed and two Mexican gendarmes wounded in a border clash at Avaco. Assurances of regret were given as steps were decided to send troops to restore peace. Secretary Root ordered a company from Fort Huachuca to Naco.

Woman Claims Fortune as Basis for Credit Scheme Indicted

Mrs Hettie Gates, wife of a barber, alleged heir to 3 500 000 from an English uncle, is indicted for grand larceny in the second degree in Minneapolis. She secured unlimited credit for over a year from local tradesmen based on the supposed legacy, but investigators found no fortune.

Christian Scientists Indicted For Practicing Medicine
