Remains of Vice President Wilson in Civic Obsequy
A dense, period dispatch details Wilson’s funeral march through Philadelphia to Germantown, with tolling bells and a solemn Boston transfer. It notes a large New York tribute by military, police and civil departments, then describes arrival, state viewings in Doric Hall, and quiet reverence at the Massachusetts hall.

Nevada Supreme Court Limits State Claim to Mineral School Lands
The Nevada Supreme Court rules that school sections containing minerals cannot be claimed by the State under public land grants. Chief Justice Hawley leads with a majority ruling in the Solomon Heidenfeldt case, allowing mineral lands to remain outside educational land claims. Justice Beatty remarks differ on some points but concurs that the sixteenth and thirty-fifth sections’ mineral status favors the appellant, while the Legislature has agreed to a non mineral sale stance. The ejectment suit centers on the Daney mine location within the sixteenth section.
