A vintage health notice extols Syrup of Figs as a gentle laxative that promotes internal cleanliness without debasing organs. It stresses buying only the California Fig Syrup Co. product, used by millions, and recommends consultation with physicians for actual diseases.
Passenger travel notes indicate tickets at eight o clock. H. Kitto serves as agent for the service, with baggage checked through to western points and travelers insured by the tickets.
The advertisement promotes Chamberlain's Eye and Skin Ointment to ease intense itching from eczema tetter and other skin diseases and asserts permanent cures for several cases. It also touts use for itching piles sore nipples chapped hands chilblains frost bites and chronic sore eyes. Dr. Cady's Condition Powders are described as a tonic blood purifier and vermifuge for horses.
The list names government offices and officials including Vice-President Secretary of Interior Attorney General and Secretary of Agriculture M. Harmon and J Sterling Morton among county commissioners J Rougon and Chris Woit are mentioned as part of the directory.
The Board of County Commissioners invites sealed bids for general repair of the County Jail. Bids must be filed with the County Clerk by September 12, 1896, addressed to the Chairman of Commissioners, Winnemucca, Humboldt County, Nevada. The board may reject all bids. Signed A. F. It keeps on hand patent medicines drugs chemicals toilet articles homeopathic medicines and related goods priced at San Francisco rates. Mail or express orders are promptly attended to with good livery rigs and well fed stock. Pasture hay grain and other goods are offered year round.
Tam advertises a robbing business with better goods for less money. Sells whisky by the case, cigars by the hundred or thousand, mineral water, bitters, table wine, Pabst beer by bottle or barrel.
