Removal of Silver State Office to Bridge Street Building

The Silver State office moves from Railroad Street to a new Bridge Street building opposite the Courthouse. The San Francisco stock report lists numerous mines and prices in yesterday and this morning boards, including Eureka Consolidated, Belmont, Overman, Ophir, Crown Point, Chollar, and others with varied quotitations and changes.

Ore discoveries and wagon makers praised in Central District

Centra District reports two ore lots from a ledge discovered by S. W. Hammand at the Reduction Works. One lot yielded 168 06 per ton in silver and the other 840 per ton. Hammand says several miners are at work nearby with good prospects and fair wages. Citizens of Battle Mountain raise 133 for Virginia relief, while local wagon makers Cohoon and Davis perfect a seven ton freight clip admired by teamsters.

Hair Breath Escape on Westbound Mail Train

A drunken man boarded between here and Reno between the mail and express cars and tried to enter an express car door. After failing to break in and while freezing, guards and travelers prepared to defend the car. The intruder departed unharmed as the train rolled on. Also notes 161 recruits for the Sixth Cavalry en route to California, Wells Fargo bullion shipments, and local police transfers.

Positive doubt cast on committee influence in Silver State

A reader from Wrewemucca asserts the Silver State’s claim of doubt is false and vows to prove by others that a Committee asked him to withdraw patronage.
