Railroad Meo Slightly Hurt In Batte Mountain Squeeze
Brakeman Theodore in Point receives slight bruises after being squeezed between two cars during a coupling at Batte Mountain. He expects to resume his run in a few days. The freight train entering the yard halted suddenly, Conductor Sheehan was jolted from the caboose cupola and suffered a minor scalp wound but returned to work.

Preliminary Examination in Mill City Murder Case
The examination of J. Garcia charged with killing countryman F. Florez last Thursday in Mill City began in Justice Court and continued to today to secure Mexican witnesses. All testimony will be through interpreters as witnesses are Mexican. Evidence is conflicting and may lead to discharge of the Mexicans under arrest.

Railroad Change On Salt Lake Division

Coal Discoveries Reported Across Eastern Oregon
A Baker City telegram notes coal deposits found in several eastern Oregon localities with improving quality at depths. Elmer Cleavr reports surface coal near Prairie City and John Day river outcrops tested in Pendleton show satisfactory results though not yet analyzed.
