Sacramento reports heavy spring rain began early and persisted through the day damaging wheat and hay while fruit crops escape impact. Farmers fear lodging and harvest loss as stands down and replanting may be needed. In Paris, Mme De Roulede and Marcel Habert were acquitted of inciting sailors during the President Loutet election. In Buppyalo, Polish freight handlers struck over heavy track loads. In La Grande a local architect Bennett died after ingesting poison on a business trip. Miss Grillo aged seventeen residing on Royal street fell ill with yellow fever and died after an autopsy confirmed the diagnosis. A May twister tore through Mineola area in the northwest, destroying John Rohrberg’s farm two miles north. His 11 year old daughter died, another boy broke a leg, and several relatives were seriously hurt as farm buildings and telegraph lines were smashed. Other farms suffered severe damage as the tornado swept through the region.
Three distinct tornadoes struck Nebraska yesterday afternoon, with limited damage. Only one residence, that of George Walbeck, was completely destroyed while livestock perished and property losses were reported. crowds sought shelter in cellars as funnel clouds appeared.
