Memorial Day Exercises Highlight Local Patriotism
Memorial day exercises by McDermit Post G A R and Woman's Relief Corps drew full attendance at Armory hall. Rev M G Hamm spoke on patriotism amid wartime anxiety, with schoolchildren, readings, and music, followed by cemetery rites, a diegressive salute, and a final benediction. Also a mining industry note advised cooperation among neighbors to increase property value plus Salt Lake mining congress plans and half-rate travel by Southern Pacific.

Rich Gold Camp and Elko Mines Attract Attention
Two years after Bull Run in Elko county was viewed as a silver camp the Carieux mine shows more than 2000 tons of ore in sight averaging 25 dollars per ton in gold. Other claims in the district are said to be gold bearing with little silver. Colonel Maxaon secured an exhibit of copper ores from Elko mines for the San Francisco mining fair, described as high grade by experts.
