Ore Purchases Explained by Glasgow and Western
A miner asks how ore purchases are handled by Glasgow and Western. Ore is weighed in the seller's presence, crushed, and sampled with one shovel in ten. The sample is cone and quartered to ten pounds then divided among company, seller, and a safe deposit. Assays determine payment, with a third assay by an umpire if results disagree. Superintendent Terhune's 25 years in sampling and smelting in Salt Lake is cited as a guarantor of fair dealing.
