Local intelligence reports the Nevada Central Railway between Battle Mountain and Austin built during deep winter faces bed depressions as snow melts in spring. A near Reese River train derailed slight damage. four whites and some Indians aboard escaped unharmed. Senator Thompson probes a Central District lead tunnel while Joseph Hill notes district prosperity and mines. A Sierra Nevada snow storm delayed trains, Reno and Carson City saw several inches of snow.
The Winnemucca District Board of School Trustees calls a district election for Saturday the 13th to decide a proposition to levy a special tax to build and furnish an additional schoolroom. A taxpayer asks for full discussion of schoolroom needs and attendance before the vote.
The Bullion Mit. The Bullion of Paratise Company expand their mill to ten stamps. A new timber load for the battery arrived yesterday and was assigned to Harry Wateson’s team for transport. Machinery is due within days and will be installed as quickly as possible.

Good Thing. German Syrup is the prescription of Dr A Boschee. A celebrated German physician notes it cures coughs lung troubles and cold symptoms. It is not experimental and has sold two million bottles annually. Beware of imitators Rosenek’s German Synor introduced in 1868. Three doses relieve an ordinary cough. Price 75 cents sample bottle 10 cents.
An advertisement touts Brown's Household Panacea as the most effective pain destroyer worldwide. It claims to cure pain in the side back or bowels sore throat rheumatism toothache and all aches and to be twice as strong as rivals. A nightly teaspoonful in hot water is said to break up a cold with a 25 cents bottle price.
An assortment of patent medicines and wares are touted. Brown's Vermifuge Comfits claim to eradicate worms with no harm to children. Salah's Vituline promotes relief from indigestion and stomach issues at 74 cents. Shilo Porous Plaster offered for back or chest pain. The notices also advertise perfumes, watch making, fashion rooms, free nightly lunches, and Boston baked beans with brown bread at Doc's Luxeon Stayv.
An 19th century advertisement promotes Mus. Weisstow's Soormine Syear as a safe effective teething remedy. It claims immediate relief for distressed infants, bowel regulation, rest for mothers, and health for the child, endorsed by physicians and nurses in the United States. Sold nationwide at 25 cents a bottle.
A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Humboldt D A M and M Society will be held Wednesday evening at 8 o clock at the Secretary Office in Winnemucca. All members are urged to attend due to important matters to be presented. By order of the secretary Ferdinand Ried February 27, 1880.
