An eastern cattle buyer arranged to ship about fifteen hundred head by rail from this station to Nebraska. The market for cattle has shifted eastward with no shipments to San Francisco for months. A year ago San Francisco was the sole market for Nevada cattle, but now cattle are driven or sent east, leaving Humboldt steaks off breakfast menus.
An eastern bound passenger train due at 10 40 A M did not reach until 2 00 P M after an accident at Isco where a special car carrying Superintendent Clements of the Track Department collided with a freight train. Mrs Clements was seriously injured and the fireman killed.
The boy, naming himself Andrew Drake, says he was taken prisoner by the Comanches and lived with them for years. His father, believed killed or scalped in California, is said to live there. Charitable locals provided funds for his fare to Reno.

Wool shipments surge with N Levy sending ten tons last night. Baling continues. about sixty tons remain to be baled for shipment and more arrives daily. The county’s wool crop this season likely tops 300000 pounds as prices rise and sheep owners grow wealthier.
Deputy Cody of Big Meadows reports a man who stole 280 dollars from Robert St Clair at Lovelock returned the money to its owner and was discharged. The man, a stranger and possibly non compos mentia, made no concealment or denial and had worked for St Clair a month earlier.
John Cody notes that Joseph Marten, a major landowner in Big Meadows, will stack about 2000 tons of alfalfa hay this season. The Lower Humboldt lands favor this grass and after the first season needs little water to ensure a heavy crop.
Inyo Mono counties report notable sinks while Mono Lake rises up to a foot or two yearly. The lake sits four feet higher than a decade ago and may have once covered ten times its current area. Debates on causes include new water from mountains, Virginia Creek diversions, or vanished outlets. A 160 acre pre emptor claims most of his land is underwater. F. C. Robins advertises cash deals on hats and white coats for limited days.
The Internal Revenue Bureau requires stamped barrels or kegs to be used and bottling to occur blocks from the brewery with witnesses. Charley Keeler moved four stamped kegs off site for bottling, witnessed by a teamster, who alerted others. Two empty kegs remained as full bottles disappeared amid political blasting.
