A Chefoo dispatch reports combined fleets occupied the Taku north forts after a magazine explosion. The British gunboat Algerine was damaged with two officers and four men wounded. Japan and Russia are said to be landing large troop forces. Kempff’s Washington-dated report covers the Taku engagement, with no word from Pekin since June 12 and uncertainty on legations' status.
