Horses Rampage After Wagon Breaks on Bridge Street
A gravel wagon hauling for Peter St. Peter broke a rear axle and the bed released, freeing the forward wheels. The team bolted toward town, holding St. Peter as he tried to stop them. They dashed up the levee, rammed G. W. Summerfield’s scales, and were finally halted. Also noted are obituaries for Mrs. M. A. Hilderbrandt and a local court case: James Perry found guilty of assault with intent to bodily harm, with max sentence two years.
