Oregon Ballot Thefts Highlight Quinn Controversy In Oregon
Oregon dispatch says county clerks alter congressional totals to defeat Populist candidate Michael Quinn. In Yamhill Clatsop and Lane counties small vote shifts suppress Quinn while party rivals battle for Senate and govern control. Heney's Mortgaged Property Blocked in San Francisco
United States Circuit Judge Hawley issued an injunction stopping Attorneys Coffin and Woodburn from securing mortgages for 9000 tied to James Heney a Carson mint robber. The government says the mortgages were fraudulently executed to dodge the imposed fine. The marshal reports Heney has no unencumbered property to satisfy the government claim and a suit to annul the mortgages is filed. The mortgaged property is in the Mission district of San Francisco.
