The Mining Reporter notes the Spanish mine near Washington in Nevada County California milled 3 443 tons in 1899 at 23 9 cents per ton for labor and supplies, total 58 5 cents including mining costs, a record lower than Alaska Treadwell. Other mills cited include Rochford South Dakota and Sickles California with favorable costs. the record nearly equals the Spanish.

Doves Hunt Accident Leaves Man With Serious Hand Injury
Sunday Frank Rogers son of John Rogers of Wellington met an accident while loading a gun from a wagon. The shot tore flesh from the back of his hand and broke several small bones. A San Francisco hospital is hoped to save the mangled member.
