An 19th century style advertisement touts Syrup of Figs as a pure laxative improving health by cleansing the system and aiding kidneys liver and bowels. It emphasizes pleasant taste, avoids weakening organs, and promises no objectionable substances. Sold by druggists in 50c and 81 bottles, manufactured by California Fig Syrup Co with their name on each package.
Tickets sold and baggage checked through to all eastern points. Travelers insurance tickets also sold. J A Ferraro, Agent.
Rioters clash with federal and state troops in Oakland and Dunsmuir as Southern Pacific freight and passenger services remain near normal but strained. Arrests follow at Oakland and Dunsmuir. lawsuits threaten the railway’s cooperation with unions.
A traveler reported a sudden cloudburst between Bodie and Bridgeport California that inundated the area. The Mormon ranch milk house was washed away and two men drowned, leaving questions about the event and its aftermath. Hood’s Sarsaparilla is advertised as a cure with claimed merit.
Carson July 16 1894 Roswell K Concorp reports Governor Colcord’s reply on sending U S troops to Nevada. He says the president has ample authority under law to deploy troops if deemed necessary while urging citizens to uphold federal laws. The petition for removal will still be sent despite the governor’s position.
