A Charitable People in Reno Hosts Luncheon for Volunteers
The good people of Reno hosted a fine Sunday luncheon for the Winnemucca Elko volunteers upon their arrival. Professor Winfrey and Hon G T Turritin organized the benevolent event, raising funds by subscription. The spread was served at Reno hotels and greatly enjoyed. It is noted the volunteers were not forgotten by the organizers.

Engineers Pass Through En Route to San Francisco
A Company of United States Engineers, Second Regiment of United States Volunteer Engineers under Lieutenant Mills, moved through from Salt Lake on No 2 this morning bound for San Francisco. The company was recruited by Col Willard Young from Utah Montana Idaho and Nevada.

A New York Regiment Heads to San Francisco
The First New York Volunteer Infantry, about 1300 men under Col. T. H. Barber, passed through today in four sections en route for San Francisco. The regiment will be stationed at Honolulu for the time being, with Barber regarded as an especially capable officer for the post.

Volunteer Notes From Camp Sadler Amidmilitia Mobilization
Over 400 soldiers camp at Camp Sadler drawing crowds to Carson. Virginia and Winnemucca Elko units arrive with mascots eagle and boy mascot. Col. Lord departs for paymaster duties in San Francisco. Governor Sadler may delay militia until volunteers muster. Battalion to be assigned to Presidio or Camp Merritt after full company recruitment. Five companies present, four to be recruited for battalion. several officers and a major to be chosen later. Army rationing aided by Red Cross. water scarcity and dusty heat strain recruits. Dr Sidney Pinniger passes surgeon exam and is mustered in. Volunteers may begin cooking at camp as food comes from local hotels and boarding houses.
