Two Miles a Minute American Railway Plan in Brooklyn

The American Railway Company argues for a single elevated rail across the continent to run New York to San Francisco in under a day or Chicago in about five hours. Aluminum cars with 50 passengers, electric brakes, and gearless motors would be operated singly with stations every 100 miles. Capt. Lina Beecher of Brooklyn leads the project to cut starting and stopping losses and long distance travel costs.
