An advertisement extols Syrup of Figs as a gentle, effective laxative from the California Fig Syrup Co. It claims care for internal cleanliness, warns to buy only the genuine article from reputable druggists, and suggests physicians for serious disease while recommending the product for regular health needs.

Subscriptions continue unless the subscriber gives express notice otherwise and arrearages must be paid before discontinuing. If papers are refused or not picked up, the subscriber bears responsibility. Moving without informing the publisher, or removing papers, grounds liability. Courts deem uncalled for removal prima facie fraud. Prepaid subscribers must notify when ending. failure risks arrest and fines. Postal law allows arrest for fraud by nonpaying readers.
