Advertises Syrup of Figs as a superior laxative with soothing taste and gentle action. Claims to improve digestion, cleanse the system, and treat colds headaches and fevers while not weakening kidneys liver or bowels. Promotes nationwide sale in 50 cent and 1 dollar bottles by the California Fig Syrup Co. with the product name printed on every bottle.
A 1866 estimate from the provost marshal general cites 61 362 Union soldiers killed in battle 4726 died of wounds 17 died of disease 279 376 total desertions 198 106. Confederate losses quoted include 183 821 deaths from battle wounds or disease and 104 428 desertions. Prisoner exchanges yielded 476 169 Union captives and 212 608 Confederate captives with 29 725 and 26 774 dying in prisons respectively. A medicinal ad promotes Syrup of Figs as a cleansing laxative.
Advertising copy touts Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup for teething children with claims it relieves pain and regulates digestion and diarrhea. Also promotes Simmons Liver Regulator and Krause's Headache Capsules with testimonials and modern retail availability.
In Humboldt County Nevada the Court of the State in the matter of M. H. Carrel deceased orders notice to all heirs. The petition by Mary Carrel administratrix requests closing and distribution of remaining residue among heirs. A hearing set for February 19 at 10 a.m. to show cause why distribution should not be approved.
Notice that on February 9 1894 at 10 oclock a m in the Winnemucca Nevada courthouse the court will hear proof of the will of George R Walker deceased and consider letters testamentary for F M Fellows and Joseph Cochran any interested person may appear to contest the matter.
