Radical railroad change renames Central Pacific to Union Pacific

A Salt Lake dispatch reports the Central Pacific portion of the Southern Pacific will be diverted from the Kentucky corporation and known as the Union Pacific. The Southern Pacific remains a separate company with its own officers. A six car limited train with through sleepers from Kansas City Omaha and Chicago to San Francisco will be the Wests fastest. Travel times: New York 70 hours Chicago 60 Omaha 50 Utah 25. Union Pacific passes a Utah Legislature consolidation bill. Head offices move to 120 Broadway New York Ogden and San Francisco offices noted.
