The passage extols the elixir Syrup of Figs as a gentle laxative from the California Fig Syrup Co that promotes internal cleanliness without weakening the system. It urges readers to ensure the genuine product from reputable druggists and notes that no laxative is needed if health is already good.

Government leaders listed include President Grover Cleveland and Vice President Adlai Stevenson. Secretaries of State Olney and Treasury Carlist, War Lamont, Navy Herbert, Interior Wheeler, Attorney General Harmon, Agriculture Morin, with Nevada figures Newlands and Bigelow in Congress, and state officials in Humboldt and Lander etc.

Notice proclaims books of registration for the general election on November 8, 1896, open daily during legal hours and extended hours in October. Naturalized citizens must present their papers when registering.
The Board of County Commissioners invites sealed bids for general repair of the County Jail. Bids must be filed with the County Clerk before September 12 addressed to Chairman Chatemai Conte Commissioners, Winnemucca, Humboldt County, Nevada.
