Birthmark that drinks Bourbon every nine days in Corry

In winter 1877-78 L C Covell and Alvah Barber ran Lowenthal Liquor Store at 12 Center St Corry Pa. A 70-year-old regular came every nine days with a pint of bourbon, drank it without facial reaction, then left. He revealed a purple bottle-shaped birthmark on his left thigh and explained his skin distends after drinking, returning to normal after nine days. He said he must have liquor or he would die, and the cycle repeated.
