Yesterday a two and three quarter foot rattlesnake with nine rattles and a button was killed near the Winnemucca Hotel at Bridge Street. The reptile blocked access to the tee house of D. Giroux, prompting a frightened scramble as townspeople fled. The incident notes the rarity of snakes near town and the danger of a blind, defending reptile in the area.
